Why should I become a member of
Dadooda?
Becoming a member allows you to take full advantage of Dadodoa and submit
items for publication on our website. You can also set up your Meet The
Member page if you so wish. There is no charge for membership of Dadooda.
If you are a visitor to Dadooda (i.e. not a member) you can search and
browse Dadooda as often and for as long as you wish, but you will not
be able to submit items for publication.
What
age group is Dadooda intended for?
Dadooda is not directed at any particular age group. It is a family website
and all age groups are very welcome. The only stipulation is that members
must be over 15 years of age.
Why
does Dadooda want the work of “unrecognised” contributors?
Dadooda is built on a conviction that everybody has something worth sharing
with others – what we call a positive attribute. Put another way,
we believe there is a wealth of untapped knowledge, talent and creativity
out there in this big wide world. Dadooda provides a platform for harnessing
these riches to the power and reach of the Internet. It enables people
to share their knowledge or experiences or imagination or artistic talent
with others all around the globe.
What’s more, people from diverse backgrounds can often provide
a different perspective or interpretation to that of recognised experts
or media professionals. By providing such people with a showcase for their
work or creative talent, Dadooda gives the global Internet community an
alternative and interesting – perhaps even valuable - source of
information for research and browsing activities.
In any event, many people would simply like to see their work published
in a public forum. And why not? Who knows where it could lead? Dadooda
gives them that opportunity.
Who
owns material I publish on Dadooda?
You do. You remain the copyright owner of your work at all times. You
are free to do whatever you want with your material while it is published
on Dadooda, including having it published elsewhere. You only commit to
publishing it on Dadooda for a period of one year, after which you can
remove it.
Who
chooses the way an item appears on Dadooda?
To ensure consistency of layout on its website, items can only be submitted
to Dadooda using one of its purpose designed templates. However, the content
is the sole responsibility of the member who submits the item. Dadooda
NEVER changes the content of an item.
This means, for example, that the member is responsible for ensuring
any text is correctly formatted, including spelling and punctuation; that
there are no other errors or inconsistencies in the presentation of an
item and for the quality of media such as images, video clips and audio
clips.
While Dadooda will not necessarily reject or remove items containing
errors, inconsistencies or poor quality media, it may do so if it considers
that overall the item falls short of its Standards of Presentation.
How
long does it take to publish an item on Dadooda?
Generally an item is published on our website immediately after the contributing
member clicks on the Publish button! However, any item may be randomly
intercepted for review by Dadooda prior to its publication. This may delay
publication for a short period while the item is reviewed.
For further information please refer to Dadooda's Standards of Publication.
How
long are items kept on Dadooda?
Dadooda agrees to retain an item on its website for a minimum period
of one year from the date it is first published, as does the member who
contributed the item. This is set out within Dadooda’s Terms of
Use.
Generally, however, Dadooda will retain an item indefinitely unless it
receives an average rating by users of two stars or less, in which case
it may be deleted after one year from the date it is first published.
Exceptions occur if, after publication, an item is discovered to contain
material that is prohibited by Dadooda or otherwise does not meet Dadooda’s
Standards of Publication. In such cases Dadooda may remove the item from
its website.
Can
a member remove or change an item already published on Dadooda?
Not for the first year after publication, as set out in Dadooda’s
Terms of Use. This is really no different to any piece of work published
in hard copy form.
Of course, with Dadooda’s flexible editing function you can change
any element of your item as often as you wish prior to actually publishing
it.
You can remove an item after one year from the date of publication. The
item can then be deleted or edited and, if you so decide, resubmitted
as a new item.
Exceptionally, you may request Dadooda to remove an item within the one
year period from its date of publication. You should use the Contact Us
email facility for this purpose, giving details of the item and the reason
for your request.
Will
Dadooda change an item submitted for publication?
No, never. Items are published exactly as they are submitted by the contributing
member.
How
often are items submitted for publication rejected by Dadooda?
Infrequently. Most items submitted by Dadooda members meet and usually
exceed the minimum standards Dadooda considers acceptable for publication
on its website, both in terms of content and quality of presentation.
Dadooda would rather not reject any items, but like any library or commercial
publishing business we have to try to ensure the material we admit to
our website is legal, suitable for the majority of our users and generally
in keeping with our stated objectives.
Why
are some items rejected or removed by Dadooda?
Occasionally, Dadooda may reject an item before it is published on its
website, or remove an item from its website after it has been published.
This will normally occur because the item is found to contravene Dadooda’s
Terms of Use or otherwise does not meet its Standards of Publication.
For further information please refer to Dadooda's Terms of Use and Standards
of Publication.
What
happens when an item is rejected or removed by Dadooda?
When it rejects or removes an item Dadooda will advise the contributing
member of its decision by email. The member may change the item and resubmit
it for publication as a new item.
Please note that Dadooda’s decision to reject or remove an item
is final. Under no circumstances can Dadooda enter into further correspondence
about its decision.
Isn’t
Dadooda acting as a censor when it rejects or removes items?
We don’t think so and that is not our purpose in rejecting or removing
items. However, some decisions we make inevitably involve an element of
subjectivity, in exactly the same way as any media publishing organisation
has to decide what to publish and what not to publish in pursuance of
its objectives.
Our sole purpose in rejecting or removing items is to uphold our Standards
of Publication which are designed to ensure items published on our site
are suitable for young and old alike and are generally of a high standard,
both in content and presentation.
For further information please refer to Dadooda’s Standards of
Publication.
How
do I cancel my membership of Dadooda?
