Overview
An Article item type enables you to publish a magazine style
article.
An Article is ideal for a short piece of writing about any non-fiction
subject. You could write about anything that interests you or
that you have experienced. Maybe you are an expert in a particular
subject and would like to share your knowledge with other users
of Dadooda.
Your Article can be up to 12,000 characters long including spaces.
Typically, this is equivalent to about 2,000 words.
You can add up to five images to your Article, each with a short
caption.
Elements
Subject: You will need to choose
a Subject Group and Subject for your Article from our preset list.
Title: The title can be up to 50
characters including spaces.
Text: This is the main text of
your Article. Enter your text as you wish it to appear to readers.
A character counter will tell you how many characters you have
left.
Images (optional): For adding images
to your Article. Use the Browse button to locate the file for
the image you wish to add. Leave blank any fields you do not wish
to use.
Caption (optional): The caption
can be up to 50 characters including spaces. Leave blank any fields
you do not wish to use.
Upload: Click the Upload button
to upload your work to our server where you will be able to continue
editing before you choose to Publish.
Hints
- A good average length for an Article is about 1,000 words,
or about 6,000 characters. There are about 500 words on this
page.
- You can type the text of your Article directly into the Text
field. However, you may find it easier to prepare the text of
your Article in a word processing application such as Microsoft
Notepad and then copy and paste it into the Text field. See
Help on using text from Microsoft
Word.
- Create a title that describes your Article as precisely as
possible and includes one or more words directly relevant to
the main subject.
- Before starting work on your Article you may find it helpful
to identify any images you wish to add to it and copy them into
a temporary folder on your desktop. You can delete the folder
after your Article has been published on Dadooda.
- We suggest you do not choose a subject from the Fiction category
for your Article. If you want to publish a short piece of fiction
we recommend you use the Book item type.
- We recommend you review your Article for completeness before
uploading it for publication. Your Article will be published
exactly as you submit it. We will not edit it in any way.
- You can go back and edit any element of your Article as often
as you wish before it is published. However, once you have published
your Article on Dadooda it cannot be changed.
