DRAMA (FICTION) (0)

she could hardly open her eyes they hurt and movement required energy, one entity she did not posses. she was so hungry and the pain in her stomach was unbearable it was empty but felt bloated. she could only imagine what her little brother was going through, then she remembered, he had no one else to care for him. their parents had died her dad murdered because of politics her mother committed suicide. a selfish choice she always thought now she was stuck with having to care for her little brother both financially and emotionally. she had to drop out of school because she could not afford her fees all she could do for money was work in the farms that surrounded were she lived.
she slowly opened her eyes she had to go wake and wash her brother then find him something to eat. getting up and stumbling over a cows hide she got to were her brother lay and shook him. he always was a problem to wake so she shook I’m two more times calling his name. after about a minute of continuous shaking and calling she open his blanket and there was no resistance. her heart started pounding. fear gripped her whole body. don’t let it be. not Simba. he was only five. guilt, tears rolled down her eyes uncontrollably shaking her little brothers lifeless body. he had to wake up. there was no way she could be left alone in the world.
the funeral was a sombre affair her village helped her. they were all very supportive but all she felt was empty. they pain she felt was so immense, she just knew that she had to follow her family because there was nothing to live for. the greasy village chief come up to her, he had made his interest in her known. used to having any one he wanted he expected no resistance. it was her brothers funeral for Christ’s sake. he expected no resistance and no resistance he was going to get. she looked up, then said when he came even closer "my brother died of aids" she knew it was a lie and felt guilty about saying that but she had to discourage the slim ball somehow. the chief paused then said slowly "ohh just came to offer my condolences" then quickly turned away and left.
the word had gone round, everyone thought she had AIDS she didn’t mind that because that meant the men avoided her and women didn’t regard her a threat so people were kind to her.
one day cleaning her floor the doctor who lived in the city but volunteered in the village clinic knocked on her open door. " i heard people say your brother died of aids and that you have the disease as well?" she could no look him in the eye, he continued " i swear simba died from cholera and water loss" she was now scrubbing the floor so hard the concrete could have eroded he went on now with a smile on his face "and when your aids test results came you were negative. mmm clever way of keeping those woman hungry man off hey, but how long do you thing that will last. they will soon forget your brother passed then they wont care about what you claim you have."

she was packing her bag she didn’t own a lot just some tatty clothes and a pair of sandals. she thought back to when the doctor offered to take her with him to the city. he said " it wont be easy" and she didn’t care he said she would go back to school and would also have to be his house keeper. she was so grateful she didn’t mind having to work and couldn’t wait to leave the village. even in her excitement she was nervous the doctor said he had two children one was twelve and the other was seventeen a year older than her. how would they treat her she wondered but she knew it would have to be better than what she was going through currently. he said he would pay her fees and provide all her food. then she asked what the catch was. a bomb. he sat down and said to her "this has to be between me and you, you cant ever tell any one. you are my child" shock " your mother and i well we err its was err well your father was never here and well she used to talk to me she was lonely" silence "your father knew" more shock
that was a revolution she couldn’t believe it but then she remembered her mother's note the one she wrote. she had written "there are something i kept from you. just know you are not alone, if you need any help go to doctor chirember, he wont hesitate to help" it did not mean anything then but now wow the evidence was there in black and white.
