The process is very straightforward and intuitive, involving just a few
simple steps.
Step 1 - Select the type of item you want to publish
Step 2 - Complete the template
Step 3 - Upload your item
Step 4 - Review and edit your item if necessary
Step 5 - Publish your item!
Then sit back and admire your work, which is now on show to the world!
It’s as easy at that. Of course, you’ve got some work to
do along the way!
So, here’s what you do, step by step.
Step 1 - Select the type of item you want to publish
Click on SUBMIT ITEM from the top navigation bar. This will open the
Choose Item Type page.
From the Choose Item Type page select the type of item you wish to publish.
Currently you have five choices – Article, Images, Video, Audio
and Book.
When you have made your selection a new page will open with a purpose
designed template for the type of item you selected.
Step 2 - Complete the template
Each template is comprised of four elements. All templates include Subject
and Title elements. The remaining two elements depend upon the item type
you select.

Subject (all templates)
Select your Subject Group and Subject from drop down lists. There are
currently over 30 Subject Groups, covering over 400 Subjects.
Title (all templates)
Enter a title for your item of up to 50 characters (about 8 words).
Create you title carefully because this is what other users will see
when the item is included in a list of search results. Ideally, it should
be directly relevant to the subject matter – not too vague or cryptic.
Introduction (all templates except Article)
Write an Introduction to your item of up to 500 characters (about 80
words).
For Images, Video and Audio item types the Introduction is important
because it contains the main piece of text that will be searched by Internet
search engines. It should contain a concise description of the item and
its subject matter.
If you don’t want to write a full introduction you should enter
some “key words” relevant to your item. Try to imagine what
words you would enter if you were searching for your item and type in
those words.
Keywords
Use of keywords is vital for your work to be found by searches on Dadooda
and by search engines. Try to imagine what words you would enter if you
were searching for your item and type in those words. You can check the
popularity of keywords at Google
Suggest.
Use your keywords in your title and text as many times as possible without
distorting the way it reads.
Main Text (Article and Book templates)
Enter the text of your Article or Book.
An Article can be up to 12,000 characters (about 2,000 words).
A Book can be up to 1 million characters (about 160,000 words –
equivalent to a 300 page book).
Images & captions (Article and Images templates)
Add images and captions to your Article or Images item type.
Up to 5 images with captions can be added to an Article, or it can be
submitted as a text-only Article with no images.
Up to 20 images with captions can be included in an Images item type.
Captions can be up to 50 characters (about 8 words). They will appear
directly beneath the image. However, captions are optional. You can leave
the caption field blank if you wish.
Video clip (Video template)
Add a video clip to your Video item type.
Your video clip can have a file size of up to 100 megabytes. The play
time this represents will depend on the file type you use.
Audio clip (Audio template)
Add an audio clip to your Audio item type.
Your audio clip can have a file size of up to 5 megabytes. The play time
this represents will depend on the file type you use.
Step 3 - Upload your item
When you have completed the template to your satisfaction click on the
upload button. This will send your item to Dadooda's servers.
Don’t worry, though. Your item won’t be published yet! You
will be able to preview and edit it before it is published – or
even delete it altogether!
When the item has finished uploading it becomes a “Pending Item”
(which means you have uploaded it but not yet published it) and a page
called My Pending Items will open.
Step 4 - Review and edit your item if necessary
The My Pending Items page lists all your pending items, with the latest
item you uploaded at the top of the list.
The list displays certain information about your item. It shows the Title
you gave it, the Subject you chose for it, the date you uploaded it and
an icon for the item type to remind you what kind of item it is.
There are three actions you can take before you publish your item.
Preview the item
Simply click on the Title of your item to preview it exactly as it will
appear on Dadooda's website.
After you have previewed your item, you can click on MY ITEMS in the
top navigation bar or use your browser’s Back button to return to
My Pending Items. Or you can navigate elsewhere and return to your item
later.
Edit the item
Select Edit to make changes to your item.
A page will open showing the choices available to you. Simply select
the element you wish to edit. This will generate a new page displaying
the element to be edited. Make your changes and click on the Submit button.
You will then be returned to the same Edit choices page from where you
can edit another element or return to My Pending Items.
You can preview and edit your item as often as you wish.
Delete the item
Select Delete to remove your item from Dadooda. To help prevent accidental
deletion of your item you will be asked to confirm your action. There
is no way to recover the item once it has been deleted.
When you’ve reviewed and if necessary edited your item, you’re
ready to publish it.
Step 5 - Publish your item!
Just click on Publish and your item will be submitted for publication
on Dadooda’s website. But just to make sure you didn’t select
Publish by mistake, a message will ask you to confirm your action.
Once published, the item will move from your My Pending Items to your
My Published Items.
Occasionally, an item may be intercepted at random for review by Dadooda
prior to its publication. For further information please see Intercepted
Items.
